Botia kubotai - Development of Markings During Growth

by Martin Thoene last modified Dec 15, 2006 06:46 PM
A comparison of two different individuals of this species as they grew.

These Botia kubotai were owned by Cybermeez and she took photographs to show how the two fish changed over time. Both fish died in late spring 2006 when an unknown disease claimed their lives and that of several other loaches with which they shared a 150 gallon tank.

When it comes to markings, Botia kubotai is a very varied species. These particular individuals, though different, started with a fairly open pattern. Other forms of this species may have more black areas and generally as the fish increases in size, these will get increasing numbers of bluish colored dots within the black areas.
