Myxocyprinus asiaticus

Mycocyprinus asiaticus is not a loach at all, but a Cyprinid native to China. It is a sub-tropical species so high temperatures are unsuitable for the fish. The fish itself is unsuitable for aquarium keeping at all due to the fact that it may grow to around 40 inches in length. It is also a shoaling species, so keeping them alone is cruel.

The impressive shape changes with age and the fish becomes relatively unattractive as it grows.

Excellent information on this species may be found here: Mycocyprinus asiaticus
